Stop Blending In: 4 Brand Questions That Will Set You Apart as a Solopreneur
In last week’s blog post we talked about why you shouldn’t invest in just a logo and why not having the foundations in place first will only leave you feeling more disconnected, unsure, and unaligned with your brand.
To recap– we know that branding has evolved into more than just a logo. Your logo is truly just a piece of the puzzle– helping to provide your audience with a visual that connects to your overall message.
A logo alone will not create an upstream of repeat clients, a constant flow of word of mouth referrals, and certainly not an authority spotlight in the digital world.
People want experiences– so let’s give it to em!
Let’s dive deeper into the 4 brand questions we mentioned last week to help you uncover what’s going to make you stand out and get you ready to take your brand to that bingeworthy level.
1. What makes your business unique?
We’ve asked so many business owners this question and it usually leaves them feeling stumped. The initial answer is either “my experience” or “I don’t know.” And while your experience can definitely play a role in standing out– it’s not the thing that drives it home. Also, what if you truthfully don’t have that much experience yet are you just supposed to not create a brand? Nooooo. When it comes to finding your unique business traits, think about the reason you started THIS business in the first place. Is it because you saw a gap and wanted to fill it? Is it because you’re so deeply passionate about helping xyz? What values are driving your decisions? Start here!
2. How do you want your audience to feel?
Like really feel. Do you want them to feel like they’ve got exactly what it takes to leave the thing that’s been holding them back and start the thing that’s been on the back of their mind for years? That even though they don’t have the answers, they feel ready? That they are safe and capable? Whatever it is, find out how you want them to feel and make sure it’s aligned with how they want to feel.
P.S. Isn’t it funny how we want our audience to usually feel a positive emotion, yet we hone in on only the negatives. The marketing world is changing and this question is key to keeping up and staying relevant!
3. Who is your ideal client and what resonates with them?
Do you know your ideal client? We’re not talking about the surface level details like where they live or how old they are. We’re talking about who these people are if you had to describe them from an emotional standpoint. What are their likes/dislikes? What keeps them up at night? What are they striving for? What have they already achieved? What feels out of reach for them that they wish they could have?
4. What story do you want to tell?
Not the story you think people want to hear.. But the story that is honest and relatable to the people you’re selling to. How does your own journey reflect the work you do? There’s more connections that exist here than you think!
These are just some of the questions we walk our clients through inside the Business Blueprint– which we like to call Brand Therapy. Can you tell why? 🤪
Without knowing this information, our clients can’t build a true-to-you brand and neither can we!
